Hy-Vac Group, a Detroit area group of
companies with businesses in precision machining, heat treat, brazing
and assembly, has announced the opening of a new facility in
Collierville, Tennessee. The new facility will operate as Hy-Vac Medical
Technologies, and will specialize in the production of orthopedic
implants for a wide variety of medical customers. Collierville is
located just east of Memphis, in Shelby County.
The new facility offers 18,000 square feet of production capacity,
and will allow Hy-Vac to focus its leading edge technology in the area
of orthopedic implants of Sintered Titanium and Cobalt Chromium porous
coatings, heat treating and machining. The centerpieces of the new
facility are two state-of-the-art Vac Aero 4848 high vacuum furnaces.
Hy-Vacs proprietary Sinter Stage manufacturing system will control
production processes. A major customer of the new facility is Smith
& Nephew Orthopaedics.
Headquarted just outside Detroit in Sterling Heights, Michigan,
Hy-Vac Group consists of Hy-Vac Technologies, Inc., and Norbert
Industries, Inc. Hy-Vac Technologies, which offers heat treating,
brazing and tube assemblies, is one of the Midwests largest heat
treaters of aluminum. Norbert is a precision machining and assembly
company. Both Hy-Vac and Norbert offer sophisticated machining,
processing and assembly solutions to global customers in the medical,
aerospace and automotive industries.
In announcing the opening of the new Tennessee facility, Kevan
Johnston, President and CEO of Hy-Vac Group, stated that the companys
guiding principles are very straightforward. "We deliver quality

Other members of the new management team at the new facility in
Collierville include Clay Clayton, VP of Medical Operations, and Kevin
Brinkley, Operations Manager.
